Chrisland University, Abeokuta, has celebrated the academic excellence of its 2025 graduating class, with 44 students emerging with first-class honours out of a total of 252 graduates.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oyedunni Sola-Arulogun, disclosed this at the university’s 7th convocation ceremony on Wednesday. She said 133 students earned second-class upper division, 63 second-class lower, while 12 graduated with third-class honours.
Prof. Sola-Arulogun commended the institution’s governing council and the Ogun State Government for their continued support, while applauding the perseverance and hard work of the graduating students.
“Success is not given — it is earned through courage, consistency, and determination,” she told the graduands. “Go out and lead with integrity. Be the ambassadors that Chrisland University will always be proud of.”
The Vice-Chancellor also outlined some of the university’s pressing challenges, including erratic power supply, limited accommodation, and the need for improved internet connectivity and infrastructure.
Chancellor of the University, Dr Winifred Awosika, described the institution’s steady growth from just 57 students at inception to over 1,700 as a testament to divine grace and institutional commitment to excellence.
She praised the governing council, management, and staff for fostering a culture of discipline, academic rigour, and well-being among staff and students.
“Our progress is proof that faith, vision, and teamwork produce lasting success,” Awosika said. “Chrisland continues to grow as a centre of excellence and moral integrity.”
In his keynote address, Amofin Beulah Adeoye charged the new graduates to think creatively and act decisively. “The modern world rewards innovation, not imitation,” he said. “Don’t wait for opportunities — create them. Let your education empower you to build communities and solve problems.”
The Valedictorian, Mr Israel Popoola, who graduated with a CGPA of 4.95 from the Department of Criminology and Security Studies, attributed his achievement to divine grace, consistency, and the support of his family and lecturers.
