Chinese Nationals Held In Germany Over Smuggling Prostitutes

German police on Wednesday arrested three Chinese nationals on suspicion of smuggling prostitutes, after 150 officers were involved in raids on a brothel, homes and shops in the states of Hesse and Baden-Württemberg.

The public prosecutor’s office said the three suspects, who were also accused of tax evasion, were detained in the city of Wiesbaden.

Two women and one man, aged 29, 49 and 61, were arrested.

“They are strongly suspected of having employed and harboured numerous women from China as prostitutes between February 2020 and December 2024.

“Although they did not have residence permits authorising them to work in Germany,’’ prosecutors said in a statement,

The 61-year-old and the 29-year-old are suspected of having run the brothel together.

The 49-year-old is accused of helping to procure clients. (dpa/NAN)
