Head Coach Eric Chelle has announced a 55-man provisional squad for the 35th Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, with Captain William Ekong, Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi, and Stanley Nwabali among the key players.
The squad also includes Maduka Okoye, Zaidu Sanusi, Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, Frank Onyeka, Alex Iwobi, and Raphael Onyedika. Among the forwards selected are Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, Simon Moses, and Chidera Ejuke.
Several Nigeria Premier Football League stars, including Abdulrasheed Shehu, Ebenezer Harcourt, Ekeson Okorie, Chisom Orji, and Adekunle Adeleke, also feature in the list.
According to NFF Director of Communications Ademola Olajire, the squad will be trimmed to 28 players in the coming days ahead of the tournament.
“The Super Eagles will open camp in Egypt on Wednesday, Dec. 10, to begin preparations. They will play friendly matches before the tournament kicks off on Sunday, Dec. 21,” Olajire said.
Nigeria is drawn in Group C alongside Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda.
