The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has donated a motorised fire fighting vehicle to the Bauchi Commmand of the Federal Fire Service (FFS).
Mr James Laburta, the CBN Bauchi Branch Controller, said this while presenting the equipment to the command on Tuesday in Bauchi.
He said the gesture was part of its corporate social responsibility, and appreciate the service for its commitment to fight fire outbreaks in the state.
The gesture, he said, underscored the importance of partnerships between government agencies and corporate institutions in safeguarding lives and property of the people.
Responding, DCF Babangida Abba, the Acting State Controller of the service, lauded the gesture, adding it would enhance its capacity to respond to fire emergencies, especially in hard-to-reach areas.
Abba said the donation came at a crucial time, given the recent surge in fire incidents in the state.
While advising residents to be vigilant and proactive about fire safety, Abba pledged to ensure effective utilisation of the equipment.
Also, ASF Umar Lawal, the spokesman of the service, said the equipment would be effective and augment traditional fire hydrants, especially in places where fixed systems are available.
“This unit is typically portable and easy to maneuver, making it suitable for various locations.
“The motorised fire caddy is designed for skilled and unskilled firefighters to use as a quick response method for fire fighting in their early stages.
“As it beats response time to emergencies, it is also used for institutional training reaching out to incident ground scene especially in hard-to-reach areas where our fire truck can’t have access to the fire ground,” he said. (NAN)
