Seven people were injured on Tuesday when a two-storey building under construction in Akure suddenly collapsed.
An eyewitness speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said workers at the site were among those injured and were immediately taken to hospital for treatment.
The Ondo State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr Sunday Olajide, said authorities would conduct a thorough investigation to identify both the immediate and long-term causes of the collapse.
He cautioned developers against using poor-quality building materials and stressed that the safety of residents should always be a top priority. Olajide also reminded builders to secure all necessary permits and approvals before commencing construction work.
The commissioner confirmed that the state government had sealed off the construction site, with further action to be taken following the outcome of the investigation.\
