The family of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, has confirmed his death.
Buhari passed away on Sunday afternoon at a clinic in London.
The announcement was made by his longtime spokesperson, Garba Shehu.
“May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus, Amin,” the statement said.
Buhari served as Nigeria’s president from 2015 to 2023, after a previous military rule in the 1980s.
He was known for his anti-corruption stance, security-focused agenda, and his controversial economic policies.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in due course.
