Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa spearheaded a successful clearance operation in Southern Taraba from June 19-20, 2025, as part of the ongoing fight against banditry. Leading troops from the newly established Forward Operating Base Wukari, they targeted criminal strongholds in Wukari and Takum Local Government Areas.
On the first day, soldiers combed through villages, including Lortema, searching for bandit hideouts. While no arrests were made in Teyotima, they struck gold in Ikayior by dismantling a bandit camp and seizing ammunition.
The next day brought a confrontation with bandits at Mande Atsager, where the troops’ superior firepower forced the criminals to retreat. They discovered a chilling site featuring detention cells and a shrine, underscoring the criminal elements at play. Brigadier General Uwa praised the troops’ dedication and called for continued community vigilance against crime.
