Bissallah Elected SDP FCT Chairman

Hon. Nuradeen Bissallah, a seasoned politician and grassroots mobiliser, has been elected Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The election took place during a peaceful State Congress on 6 May 2025 at the SDP National Secretariat in Abuja, according to a party statement. Bissallah secured the chairmanship through delegate votes, marking a new chapter for the party’s leadership.

Hon. Gloria Sarauniya Usman was also elected State Secretary, alongside other key officials, strengthening the party’s structure in the FCT.

Bissallah, who declared his candidacy in April 2025, is celebrated by party members for his unifying leadership and commitment to the SDP’s growth. His political career includes 15 years as Personal Assistant to the former FCT Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and a stint as PDP Assistant State Secretary before joining the SDP.

Party members praised Bissallah as “an astute politician and mentor” who has consistently worked to promote the SDP’s values. A delegate told JOWBBLOG, “He’s a pillar in the party, always strengthening its structure, even in tough times.”

Bissallah’s leadership is expected to drive inclusivity, youth engagement, and strategic mobilisation to expand the SDP’s influence across the FCT’s six area councils.
