Benue Massacre: Pastor Enenche Demands Leadership Action As Death Toll Mounts

Pastor Paul Enenche, head of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, has made a passionate appeal to Nigerian authorities to act decisively in addressing the country’s worsening security crisis, following the recent massacre in Yelewata Town, Benue State.

During his visit to the devastated community, Pastor Enenche described the attack on sleeping villagers—carried out in the early hours of 14 June—as “heartless and indefensible,” adding that “scores of innocent lives were lost in a manner that suggests systematic violence.”

He pointed to a lack of political will as the central challenge in curbing such atrocities. “What we need is leadership that values human life above politics,” Enenche said. “The silence and inaction in the face of mass killings is unacceptable.”

He urged both federal and state governments to demonstrate moral courage and take urgent action. “The day will come when every leader must answer before God,” he warned.

As part of his visit, Pastor Enenche delivered emergency aid to victims and their families, including essential food items and bedding supplies. “We are here to mourn with those who mourn and to show them they are not alone,” he said.

He also called on communities to take a stand. “Citizens must rise and declare that enough is enough. Waiting endlessly for change will not bring justice—there must be a collective outcry for reform and security.”

To those grieving, he offered a message of hope and comfort: “No one can truly understand your pain but God. He alone can console and heal our wounded land.”
