Benue Governor Welcomes Tiv Council’s Endorsement For Second Term

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has expressed appreciation to the Supreme Council of the Tiv Nation for endorsing him for a second term ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Makurdi by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, Alia described the endorsement as both humbling and inspiring, noting that it reflected growing confidence in his administration’s performance.

He said the support from the Tiv traditional leadership demonstrated that his government was on the right track towards repositioning the state for peace, progress, and prosperity.

“This historic pronouncement and unique gesture, coming from the apex traditional authority of the Tiv Nation, is both humbling and deeply inspiring. It represents an overwhelming vote of confidence in my leadership, integrity, and the transformative strides already being witnessed across the state,” the governor said.

Alia added that the council’s backing reaffirmed the unity and foresight of the Tiv people and the determination of Benue citizens to sustain good governance.

“This endorsement is a testament to our shared resolve to consolidate the progress we are making and to ensure continuity of development,” he said.

He pledged to continue leading with humility and accountability, saying his administration remained committed to rebuilding and renewing the state.

“Together, as the Almighty God continues to reign, we will forge ahead to make Benue a land of peace, progress, and shared prosperity,” Alia added.
