Atiku, Buni, Binani Mourn Buhari’s Death

Nigeria is in mourning following the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, remembered by political leaders and citizens alike as a steadfast patriot whose life embodied discipline and public service.

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, writing on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), described Buhari’s death as “a profound national tragedy.”

“President Buhari was not just a former Head of State; he was a symbol of Nigeria’s resilience,” Atiku wrote.
“From the battlefield to the corridors of power, he served with austere conviction and firm belief in duty that marked him as a soldier of principle and a leader of formidable will.”

Atiku extended condolences to Buhari’s family and the nation, praying for Allah to grant him eternal peace in Aljannah Firdaus.

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State also paid tribute, describing Buhari as “a nationalist who dedicated his life to the unity and progress of Nigeria.” Buni highlighted Buhari’s service across military and civilian roles and offered prayers for his soul.

Senator Aishatu Binani shared a deeply personal message, describing Buhari as both mentor and father figure. She announced the postponement of an event planned for Monday in Yola, urging supporters to join her in praying for Buhari’s soul.

“Baba lived a life of service to Nigeria and beyond. I am shocked and saddened beyond words,” she said.

Additional condolences came from Mr Ali Mohammed, Legal Adviser of the APC in Yobe, who called Buhari “an honest leader,” whose absence would be felt across the country.

As tributes continue to pour in from Nigerians and international organisations, the nation reflects on the legacy of a leader whose decades in public life left an indelible mark.
