Army Trains 174 NSCDC FCT Personnel On Modern Security Tools

The Nigerian Army has completed the training of 174 personnel from the Federal Capital Territory Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in a bid to improve their tactical efficiency and use of modern security tools.

The week-long exercise, held under the theme “Enhancing Tactical Efficiency Through Modern Security Tools”, was designed to sharpen the corps’ ability to tackle emerging security threats.

According to NSCDC FCT Commandant Olusola Odumosu, officers received instruction in drone operations, navigation, radio communication, map reading, and the interpretation of security symbols. He said the training would translate into stronger surveillance, quicker operational responses and a more effective crackdown on vandalism and criminal activity.

Maj.-Gen. Maxwell Dangana, Commander of the Army Garrison, represented by Brig.-Gen. Ndareke Orok, advised participants to apply their new skills to real-world operations. “Knowledge not utilised will be lost,” he warned.

The course, led by Chief Instructor Capt. Lucky Tapre, was described as a potential model for future training collaborations, though he noted the need for more time and materials to expand its scope.

Participants, who received certificates at the close of the programme, pledged to apply their knowledge in safeguarding lives, property and critical infrastructure in Abuja and beyond.
