The Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has called on residents of Osun State to actively participate in the upcoming Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in preparation for the 2026 governorship election.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed the Osun Governorship Election for August 8, 2026.
Aregbesola made the call during a stakeholders’ meeting of the Omoluabi Progressives in Ilesa, as conveyed in a statement issued on Monday by the group’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Abosede Oluwaseun.
The former governor of the state emphasised the importance of mobilising especially young eligible voters, saying their participation was critical to installing a people-oriented and progressive administration.
“The time has come to swing into action. The forthcoming CVR, scheduled to begin on August 18, is crucial to the task ahead. It is important for everyone to actively participate, mobilise, and galvanise our people—especially youths of voting age,” Aregbesola said.
He also urged supporters and members of the ADC to recommit to the party’s mission of restoring true progressive leadership in the state.
“We must maintain decorum in our political engagements and focus on policy and issue-based debates that enrich political discourse. This will set the tone for our goal of returning Osun to the path of responsible governance,” he added.
In his remarks, Alhaji Azeez Adesiji, Chairman of the Omoluabi Progressives, praised the commitment of members since adopting the ADC as the group’s political platform for the next election.
Adesiji also called for full participation in the voter registration exercise, describing it as a vital step toward reclaiming the leadership mandate in 2026.
