APC Chieftain Canvasses South-South Support For Tinubu’s 2027 Bid

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Chief Victor Ogba, has urged the people of the South-South to support President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid in 2027, citing the administration’s economic reforms and infrastructural projects.

Ogba, who is also President of the Movement for National Transformation (MNT), told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Wednesday that Tinubu had introduced “bold economic reforms and massive projects,” including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, which directly benefits the South-South.

“Tinubu has tackled issues that many of his predecessors could not handle due to lack of courage, such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the mismanagement at the Central Bank that fuelled capital flight and currency speculation,” Ogba said.

He praised Tinubu for redirecting funds to critical sectors, unifying the country’s exchange rates, and boosting state revenues. According to him, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) rose by 26 per cent from N1.93 trillion in 2022 to N2.43 trillion in 2023, while debt service costs dropped significantly, freeing more resources for development.

Ogba highlighted Nigeria’s clearance of its $1.61 billion debt to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in May 2025 as evidence of improved fiscal management. He also commended the inauguration of the ANOH and AHL Gas Processing Plants, which increased domestic gas supply by 500 million standard cubic feet per day, and the upgrade of four Nigerian ports, including Lekki and Apapa, to handle larger vessels.

On education, the APC chieftain described Tinubu as a compassionate leader, pointing to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which has disbursed N56.85 billion to more than 550,000 students in just one year. He also praised the signing of the Electricity Act, which ended the federal monopoly in the power sector, enabling states and private entities to generate and distribute electricity.

Ogba said the administration had advanced the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiative as a cleaner and more affordable alternative to petrol. He also cited security gains, quoting National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu that over 13,500 Boko Haram insurgents had been neutralised in two years, with 11,000 illegal arms recovered.

According to him, more than $50 billion has been mobilised through international partnerships under Tinubu, placing Nigeria on the path of lasting prosperity.

“With these achievements, there are numerous reasons why the South-South should rally behind President Tinubu in 2027,” Ogba declared.
