APC Chairman Yilwatda Launches 14-Day Free Medical Outreach For 400,000 In Plateau

No fewer than 400,000 people are expected to benefit from a 14-day free medical outreach organised by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, in Plateau State.

Speaking at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) on Wednesday, Yilwatda said the gesture was aimed at assisting those with health needs but without the means to seek proper care.

He explained that arrangements had been made to handle at least 40,000 cases, covering consultations, treatments, surgeries, and the provision of medications.

According to him, the initiative seeks to reach underserved communities and provide relief to vulnerable persons in line with President Bola Tinubu’s healthcare reform mandate.

“This programme is a demonstration of compassion, social responsibility, and giving back to society,” Yilwatda said.

The outreach, he added, is taking place simultaneously across three venues in Plateau North: Vom Christian Hospital, Sunnah Hospital in Angwan Rogo, and the Jos University Teaching Hospital.

Dr. Pokop Bupwatda, Chief Medical Director of JUTH, lauded the initiative, describing it as both timely and impactful. He revealed that the team of doctors were from the Sharing Hope Medical Mission in the United States.

Bupwatda further disclosed that the visiting doctors would train 1,500 resident doctors and medical students on advanced lifesaving skills. He added that high-quality surgical equipment brought in for the exercise would also be distributed to the three participating hospitals at Yilwatda’s directive.

The CMD urged other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the gesture in supporting indigent citizens.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the free outreach, facilitated by Sharing Hope Medical Mission, commenced on October 7 and will run for two weeks.
