Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Chairman, Mr Christopher Maikalangu, on Wednesday received his Certificate of Return from the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Maikalangu emerged victorious in the APC primaries for the AMAC Chairmanship election held June 25, 2025, with 51 votes.
According to the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the FCT Area Council elections will hold on Feb. 26, 2026.
The council boss assured APC members after receiving the Certificate of Return that the party would emerge victorious in the forthcoming elections.
He said that his reelection would enable him to consolidate on the dividends of democracy which he has been delivering to AMAC residents since his election in 2022.
He urged party faithful to unite for a better AMAC, adding that there was no need for division in the party.
He said: “The Certificate of Return has assured me that I am the APC candidate for AMAC Chairmanship election come 2026. In APC, we are one family.”
Maikalangu invited other contestants to join hands with him to drive progress in AMAC and urged his supporters to remain steadfast in the APC.
He noted that virtually all other contestants were his “friends and brothers,” while stressing the need for unity and asked them to collaborate with him.
The chairman reiterated the stance of the FCT Minister, Mr Nyesom Wike, on the importance of the electorate having a voter’s card.
He encouraged his supporters to obtain voter’s cards to help deliver massive votes to the APC during the elections.
Maikalangu appealed to other contestants to join forces with him toward a successful outcome for the APC, saying, “we are going to make it, inshallah.”(NAN)
