Alia Showcases Achievements, Seeks Unity Ahead Of 2027 Polls

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State says his administration has completed numerous projects, with several others ongoing across the state.

Alia made this known in Makurdi during the All Progressives Congress (APC) expanded caucus meeting, where he presented an update on his government’s performance.

The governor said the completed and ongoing road projects include those linking local government areas, intra-city roads within Makurdi, and some federal routes.

He noted that new industries were emerging across the state, while many health facilities were being upgraded to improve service delivery.

According to Alia, 554 public primary schools are currently undergoing renovation or reconstruction, alongside the recruitment of additional teachers to restore the quality of basic education in Benue.

He also disclosed ongoing efforts to revive the agricultural sector and sustain the state’s reputation as Nigeria’s “food basket.”

Alia commended President Bola Tinubu and the service chiefs for their support in tackling insecurity, stressing that his administration was determined to restore lasting peace across Benue communities.

In his welcome address, the APC Acting State Chairman, Mr. Benjamin Omale, described the meeting as a platform for dialogue and progress, praising the governor’s performance in his first two years in office. He urged party members to remain united and support the reelection of both Governor Alia and President Tinubu in 2027.

Representing the Benue North East Senatorial District, Prof. Stephen Ugba, a member of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Allocation Commission, said Alia had “unlocked Benue’s potential to the world” and pledged the district’s continued support for his administration.

Similarly, Mr. David Nongo, a former aspirant for the Gwer/Gwer West Federal Constituency, who spoke for the Benue North West Senatorial District, said the governor had restored the dignity of the people. He pledged to mobilize eligible voters to register and vote for the APC in 2027.

Speaking for the Benue South Senatorial District, former Deputy Governor Chief Steven Lawani commended Governor Alia for his developmental strides and urged him to ensure greater inclusion of the zone in future appointments.
