Alexander Isak Fallout Deepens As Newcastle Reject Exit Claims

The stand-off between Alexander Isak and Newcastle United intensified on Tuesday after the Swedish forward accused the club of breaking promises and misleading supporters about his future.

Isak, 25, took to Instagram to say he had long ago informed Newcastle of his intention to leave. “The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time,” he wrote. “When trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue.”

His comments follow weeks of speculation linking him with a record-breaking transfer to Liverpool, who reportedly tabled a £110 million offer earlier this month. Despite being named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Season, Isak skipped the awards ceremony citing his ongoing dispute.

Newcastle issued a strongly worded response, denying that assurances had been given to the striker. The club stressed he remains under contract and that the circumstances for a sale “have not transpired”.

“Alex remains part of our family and will be welcomed back when he is ready to rejoin his teammates,” the statement read.

The row casts uncertainty over Eddie Howe’s preparations as the Magpies aim to build on last season’s top-half finish. Isak, a key figure since arriving from Real Sociedad in 2022, was absent from the weekend’s goalless draw with Aston Villa and faces missing Monday’s clash with Liverpool.

For supporters, the saga highlights the tension between player ambition and club stability at a time when Newcastle are under pressure to consolidate their position among the Premier League’s elite.
