Air Force Chief Commissions NAF HQ Annex, Highlights 574 Infrastructure Projects

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has delivered 574 infrastructure projects nationwide in the last two years as part of efforts to enhance its operational capacity and improve personnel welfare, according to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar.

Speaking in Abuja on Monday at the commissioning of the new NAF Headquarters Annex Complex in Gudu, Abubakar said 412 of the projects had been completed as of August, while 162 remained in progress.

He described the newly inaugurated four-storey complex as a strategic addition to the Service’s infrastructure, conceived to ease congestion at the main headquarters. The building, once an abandoned hotel project, was acquired and remodelled by NAF engineers within 12 months.

“This transformation saved government huge resources while also demonstrating the ingenuity and resourcefulness of our personnel,” the CAS said.

Abubakar noted that the project was consistent with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places security at the core of national development. He pledged that the NAF would remain resilient, innovative, and accountable in its constitutional mandate of defending Nigeria’s airspace.

Earlier, the Chief of Administration, NAF, AVM Idi Sani, said the new complex was not just an office space but a symbol of the Service’s enduring commitment to excellence and productivity.

The ceremony was presided over by Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru, with the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, and other dignitaries in attendance.
