AFCON 2025: Senate President Akpabio Hails Super Eagles’ Third-Place Finish

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has praised the Super Eagles for their third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament held in Morocco.

In a statement released on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio applauded the national team for securing the bronze medal and bringing pride to the country.

He said the play-off match against Egypt showcased the Super Eagles’ technical quality, resilience and fighting spirit, describing the result as well deserved.

“Your victory reflects the talent and determination that Nigeria is known for, and we are proud of the way you represented the nation on the continental stage,” Akpabio said.

The Senate President encouraged the players to celebrate the achievement and use it as a springboard for greater success in future tournaments.

He noted that the team’s performance had inspired millions of Nigerians at home and abroad, reaffirming the unifying power of football in the country.

Akpabio concluded by congratulating the Super Eagles on what he described as a remarkable achievement, expressing confidence that with sustained hard work and commitment, the team could attain even greater success in the years ahead.
