ADC Adamawa Inaugurates Interim Executive Ahead Of 2027 Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has inaugurated an interim executive committee to manage the party’s affairs pending the election of a substantive leadership.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the National Vice Chairman of the party for the North-East, David Lawal Babachir, said that despite minor internal disagreements, key stakeholders unanimously agreed on the interim structure to ensure the party is strategically positioned as the 2027 general elections draw closer.

Babachir, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), emphasised that the leadership emerged through a legitimate process endorsed by the National Working Committee (NWC).

“The new leadership is substantive because due diligence was followed in line with the constitution of the party,” he said.

He added that the National Chairman of the ADC, Senator David Mark, has reassured members that the party will operate strictly according to its constitutional provisions, warning that acts of indiscipline or defiance will not be tolerated.

Babachir further urged party members to remain united and maintain decorum. “Every politician is entitled to be insulted; it is our right, but it should not affect the way we behave,” he added.

In his acceptance speech, the interim chairman, Barrister Sadiq Dasin, expressed gratitude to stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him and his team. Dasin, a former member of the House of Representatives and ex-Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, pledged to promote unity, inclusivity and internal democracy within the party.

Describing his emergence as “a child of necessity”, Dasin appealed to aggrieved members to work with the new leadership to reposition the party.

“As we take leadership of this great party, I want to assure you that 60 per cent of elective positions in the coming congresses will be reserved for women and youths, in recognition of their strategic importance to the success of the party,” he said.

He also promised that his administration would conduct transparent and credible congresses across the wards and local government areas in Adamawa State.
