The Forum of South West Chairmen of the Accord Party has expressed confidence that Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, will win a second term in office in 2026.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, the forum’s spokesperson and Ogun State Accord Chairman, Mr Rotimi Oke, said the governor’s record in office had strengthened his chances of re-election.
Oke said Adeleke’s administration had gained widespread acceptance due to its focus on service delivery, effective governance and unity within the Accord Party across the region.
He noted that the governor’s leadership had yielded measurable results, describing Adeleke as sincere and committed to meeting the expectations of the people.
Oke recalled that after clinching his party’s governorship ticket on 10 December, Adeleke outlined several achievements, including improvements in education standards and infrastructure development.
He said Osun State moved from 33rd to seventh position in national examination performance under the current administration, a progress he said was widely acknowledged across political divides.
According to Oke, the state’s infrastructure deficit fell from more than 80 per cent in 2022 to about 40 per cent by 2025, while over 40 per cent of inherited debts had been cleared, as verified by the Debt Management Office.
He added that the health sector had recorded significant progress, with Osun now ranking highest in the South West in access to primary healthcare.
Oke described these achievements as evidence of people-centred governance and cited recent spontaneous public demonstrations in Osogbo following Accord’s primary election as proof of popular support.
He said, given the governor’s performance and growing public backing, Adeleke was well positioned to defeat rival candidates in the 2026 governorship election.
