A 28-year-old man has been rescued unharmed after police in Adamawa State, supported by local hunters, launched a joint operation against suspected kidnappers in the Gombi hills.
The victim, Isah Adamu from Gurin town in Fufore Local Government Area, had been seized by gunmen before security forces tracked the group to their hideout. Police said the rescue followed credible intelligence received on Monday.
“When sighted, the kidnappers engaged the team in a gunfight, but fled after being overwhelmed by the superior firepower of our operatives,” police spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje said in a statement released in Yola.
Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris hailed the officers’ efforts and ordered the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to investigate the incident further and hunt down the fleeing suspects. He stressed that the command remains determined to protect lives and property across the state.
