Aba Fans Happy With Super Falcons WAFCON Victory In Morocco

Some football enthusiasts in Aba have hailed the Super Falcons for winning the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) at the expense of the host nation Morocco, on Saturday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Nigeria ladies produced a superlative performance to defeat their counterparts, the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco 3-2 in the final of the WAFCON.

Speaking to NAN in a separate interview on Sunday, the football enthusiasts commended the Super Falcons for their resilience, even when they were 2-0 down at halftime.

A football coach, Mazi Jaka, commended the team, describing the players as true ambassadors of the country, with burning Nigeria spirit in them.

Jaka noted the tremendous work on the team and the strength it carried from the bench which he said, was the reason Nigeria won the trophy.

He called for the inclusion of energetic and vibrant players who can replace the old ones, as they retire from the national team.

Another enthusiast, Chinonso Okafor, said the victory gave him joy.

Okafor called on President Bola Tinubu to reward the ladies for their achievement.

He praised the coach for his ability to read the game and make relevant changes when necessary.

Amarachi Ibekwe, a fan of female football, said the players showed why they had dominated football in the continent for many years.

She urged the coach to search for more talented and young players, to ensure a healthy competition in all departments of the team.

In the same vein, Onyekachi Obiajuru, described the Super Falcons as true Nigerian representatives, describing their doggedness and endurance during the match as extraordinary. (NAN)
