Senator Aliyu Wamakko has paid heartfelt tribute to former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his death as the loss of a national icon whose life embodied integrity, courage, and selfless service.
In a statement released with “deep sorrow and a heavy heart,” Wamakko remembered Buhari as a disciplined leader who rose from a young military officer to become Nigeria’s elected president, earning respect across generations.
“His determination to fight corruption, rebuild critical infrastructure, invest in agriculture, and reform security institutions left a mark that will stand the test of time,” the senator said.
Wamakko also spoke of Buhari’s modest lifestyle and principled approach to leadership, calling it a moral lesson to anyone entrusted with public office.
“On behalf of my family and the people of Sokoto State, I extend heartfelt condolences to his wife, Aisha Buhari, his children, the wider Buhari family of Daura, and all Nigerians mourning this immense loss,” he added.
In closing, Senator Wamakko prayed that Allah accepts Buhari’s good deeds and grants him a place in Aljannatul Firdaus.
