The Management of Bayero University Kano (BUK), said it will confer honourary doctorate degree on former governor of Kano State, retired Col. Sani Bello and Alhaji Auwalu Rano, owner of A.A. Rano oil.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the varsity’s convocation is scheduled for March 9 to 13.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sagir Abbas, stated this while addressing newsmen on Monday in Kano.
He said that 8, 769 graduands would be conferred with degrees, diplomas and certificates on the occasion.
Abbas said that the event would witness honouring the achievements of its students and distinguished individuals.
He said that 4,402 graduands from eleven faculties would receive their degrees, diplomas and certificates on the first day of the event.
“This marks a significant achievement for the university, which has been committed to providing quality education to its students,” he said.
“The highlights of this day include, 176 First Class degrees, 275 PhDs, 2,590 Masters Degrees and 535 Postgraduate Diplomas.
“These impressive numbers demonstrate the university’s commitment to academic excellence and its students’ hard work and dedication,” he said.
He said that the Convocation Lecture would be delivered by Khalil Sulaiman Halilu, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NACENI.
Abbas said that the title of the lecture is: “Innovation and Entrepreneurship: A Pathway to National Development.”
“The Chairman of the Convocation Lecture is the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Jeofrey Nnaji.
“Additionally, the 39th Convocation will witness the awarding of Emeritus Professor titles to three distinguished retired Professors.
“They are Prof. Garba Azare, Prof. Julius Falola and Prof. Musa Mohammed Borodo,” he added.( NAN)
