2025 WEF: Shettima, Botswana’s President Hold Bilateral Talks

Vice-President Kashim Shettima and the President of Botswana, Duma Boko, held a bilateral meeting on Tuesday to discuss areas of mutual interest between both countries.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting took place on the sidelines of the 2025 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Shettima explained that the meeting was part of Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening intra-African relations and enhancing economic cooperation.

Both leaders emphasised the importance of leveraging their countries’ strengths to promote mutual growth and development.

The Vice-President also congratulated President Boko on his election victory, highlighting the importance of deeper partnerships and collaborations between African nations.

He stated, “It is time for Africa to unite and present a common front on issues concerning the continent.”

During the meeting, Shettima welcomed the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and introduced her to President Boko.

He commended Dr Okonjo-Iweala’s exceptional achievements, describing her as one of Africa’s finest.

NAN also reports that other areas of interest discussed between the two leaders included trade, investment, and the strengthening of diplomatic ties.(NAN)
