The Commander, United States Africa Command (U.S.-AFRICOM), Gen. Michael Langley, has commended the approach of Nigeria in fighting insecurity in the country and its strategic leadership in the sub region.
Langley gave the commendation when he paid a visit to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
This is contained in a statement by the Director, Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, on Wednesday in Abuja.
He also congratulated the CDS on his appointment as the Chairman of the Committee of ECOWAS chiefs of Defence Staff.
In His response, the CDS assured the AFRICOM Commander of the commitment of the Nigerian military to cooperate with other nations in the sub region to eradicate all forms of terrorism and crimes.
Musa also solicited for more Defence cooperation with the United States, especially in the area of training, intelligence sharing and easier procurement of relevant platforms from the U.S.
The AFRICOM Commander was accompanied to the Defence Headquarters by the U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Richard Mills. (NAN)
