The Spanish Ambassador to Nigeria, Juan Sell, has reaffirmed Spain’s commitment to bolstering bilateral relations with Nigeria.
Speaking at the Spanish National Day commemoration in Abuja on Wednesday, Sell emphasised Spain’s eagerness to expand its collaboration with Nigeria and engage in business with the global community.
“We are honoured to have ministers who have visited Spain join us.
“I am delighted to be surrounded by individuals from various sectors, including business leaders, artists, academics, and journalists, whose contributions are shaping our ambitious agenda,” Sell said.
Sell underscored the importance of strengthening democratic norms in both countries, acknowledging Nigeria’s 25 years of uninterrupted democratic rule.
“Nigeria is a resilient nation with resourceful people, and we believe that the peace and prosperity we strive for will soon become a reality.
“As part of its new Africa Strategy, Spain aims to enhance its engagement with Nigeria, recognising the country’s strategic position in Africa,” he added.
Sell expressed Spain’s and the EU’s full support for ECOWAS’s efforts to protect democracy and promote regional integration.
“We need the region to remain united, prioritising the interests of its people.
“The presence of ECOWAS Commissioners at the event highlighted the significance of the partnership between Spain and Nigeria,” he stressed. (NAN)
