The Kano State Transport Authority (Kano Line) has recruited 100 casual workers as part of measures to enhance its operations.
The Commissioner for Transport, Haruna Isa, made this known on Wednesday in Kano during a capacity-building workshop for its personnel.
Isa state the state government is set to implement reforms aimed at repositioning the transportation sector for effective service delivery.
“The training is necessary as it prepares to introduce Compress Natural Gas (CNG)-power vehicles into its fleet.
“All staff must be adequately prepared for the transition”, he said.
He urged participants to take full advantage of the training and improve their knowledge and skills in modern transportation services.
On his part, the Chairman of the Kano Line Resuscitation Committee, Alhaji Saidu Abdullahi, said the training is designed to equip staff with knowledge required and address challenges of contemporary transport operations.
He commended the Kano State Government for supporting revitalisation of the Kano Line through provision of infrastructure and renovation.
The chairman also praised the dedication of its staff in ensuring proper management of their vehicles despite operational challenges.
He assured the workers that management would continue to prioritise their welfare to enhance productivity and encouraged them to remain committed to the organisation’s objectives.
Highlight of the occasion is the presentation of letters of employment to the newly recruited workers by the commissioner.
