Politician Ahmed Uthman has denied allegations linking him to an alleged N460 million Hajj Forex fraud involving the Katsina State Government.
Uthman also refuted claims that he was arrested and detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) over the matter.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Yola, the Adamawa politician described the allegations and reports of his arrest as false and misleading.
The former aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives ticket for Yola North/Yola South/Girei Federal Constituency said he was neither in DSS custody nor under investigation.
According to him, he was only invited by the police in relation to a personal matter and was released after questioning.
“I was never in DSS custody and not under investigation but rather invited by the police for questioning regarding a personal matter, which I was cleared of and released on the same day,” he stated.
Uthman claimed that the reports circulating about him were deliberately fabricated for political reasons and intended to tarnish his image.
He accused unnamed individuals of spreading false information in an attempt to damage his political career and reputation.
The politician assured supporters and members of the public that he was safe and continuing his normal activities with family and friends.
He urged the public to disregard the allegations, insisting that there was no cause for concern.
