The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled committees for its presidential and governorship primaries, appointing former governors Liyel Imoke and Abdulfatah Ahmed to oversee key processes.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.
According to the statement, Imoke has been appointed Chairman of the Presidential Screening Committee, while Ahmed will chair the Presidential Election Committee.
The Presidential Screening Committee includes Cyril Maduabum as Secretary, alongside Alhaji Lawal Batagarawa, Professor Bode Ayorinde, Nnena Elendu-Ukeje, Professor David Salifu and retired Colonel Abubakar Ciroma.
The Presidential Election Committee will have Professor Yisa Gana as Secretary, with retired Major-General Adamu Jalingo, Dr Auwalu Anwar, Chief Emenike Ikechi, Dr Macaulay Iyare and Tajudeen Bakare serving as members.
The ADC also constituted a Presidential Appeal Committee chaired by Dr Suleiman Usman, SAN. Mr Ken Imasuagbon will serve as Secretary, while Mr Dare Okerade was appointed member.
In preparation for governorship primaries, the party announced two screening panels.
The first panel will be chaired by Shaibu Aruwa, SAN, with Femi Olawuyi as Secretary. Members include Lauretta Onochie, Dr Vivian Ugochukwu, Akilu Indabawa, Ibrahim Wali and Professor Rabiu Bello.
The second panel will be headed by Mrs Justina Abanida, with Chille Igbawua serving as Secretary. Other members are Gerrard Irona, Senator Yisa Braimoh, Hassan Ibrahim, Joseph Enemali and retired Navy Captain Aliyu Ngolmo.
The party further approved two governorship appeal committees.
P.I. Oyewole, Esq, will chair the first committee, assisted by Abdulhakeen Ibrahim as Secretary and Adah Usman as member.
The second appeals committee will be chaired by M.E. Sheriff, Esq, while Mr Realwan Okpanachi and Hassan Yakubu will serve as Secretary and member respectively.
Abdullahi said the committees were constituted to promote fairness, transparency and credibility throughout the party’s primary election process.
