No Withdrawal From Race, Says APC Governorship Aspirant David Kente

David Kente, an aspirant for the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State, has dismissed reports suggesting he has withdrawn from the race in favour of Governor Agbu Kefas.

Speaking at a press briefing in Jalingo on Sunday, Kente insisted that he remains fully committed to contesting the party’s primary election.

He described reports of his alleged withdrawal as inaccurate, stressing that no agreement had been reached for him to step aside.

According to him, a recent visit by Governor Kefas was misinterpreted, saying the meeting was focused on resolving political misunderstandings, including issues surrounding the APC secretariat in Jalingo.

“There is nothing like me withdrawing for him,” he stated, adding that discussions between both sides were still ongoing.

Kente said he had requested the governor to consider ceding the party ticket to him, but noted that consultations with his supporters were still in progress.

He added that he would only take a final position after receiving feedback from his political base.

The aspirant also rejected allegations that he was motivated by financial gain, insisting he had never received money to influence his political decisions.

He said he had no political godfather and relied solely on what he described as divine support.

Kente expressed confidence in securing victory in a transparent primary election and called on APC members in the state to support his ambition.

He further warned against alleged attempts to impose candidates during the party’s primaries, saying such actions could undermine unity within the APC.
