Kaigama, Izunaso Call For Value-driven Media As CTV Marks 15-year Anniversary

The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, and Sen. Osita Izunaso have emphasised the need for value-driven media content to promote truth, unity and moral values in society.

They made the call at the 15th anniversary celebration of Catholic Television (CTV) and the first anniversary of its migration to GOtv Channel 115, held in Abuja.

Kaigama commended the management of the television station for its consistency in evangelism and dissemination of positive messages through modern technology.

He said the station had remained committed to propagating the gospel and promoting truth in spite of numerous challenges.

“I thank God for the gift of modern technology that we can reach distances and go places without even leaving our environment and this is what the Catholic Television has been doing for the past 15 years.

“For 15 years of continuous service, in spite of the challenges and all, they have been serving and they are still serving.

“We are tired of bad news, violence, killings and bloodshed. We want the good news and the good news can only come from Jesus, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life,” he said.

The archbishop urged Nigerians to support media platforms that promote moral values, truth and societal harmony.

According to him, Catholic Television has become an important instrument for spreading hope and truth in the society.

“We need the modern media in order to amplify the Word of God, and you are the instruments to bring about this.

“I hope that your gathering here will be of great benefit to the Catholic Television, to the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja and indeed to the whole of Nigeria because we need the truth,” he said

Also speaking, Izunaso described the station as a platform that had continued to shape minds, strengthen families and uphold societal values.

He said Catholic Television had demonstrated that media could go beyond entertainment to inspire and transform lives.

“Today we celebrate not just a milestone, but a movement, one that continues to shape minds, strengthen families and uphold society.

“In an era where content is abundant but meaning is scarce, this platform stands as a beacon of hope, protecting values that build character, deepen spirituality and promote unity,” he said.

The senator commended the archbishop’s leadership for embracing innovation while sustaining the message of faith in the modern media space.
