Suicide Bombing: Minister Condoles Shehu Of Borno

The Minister of Defence General Christopher Musa OFR (Rtd) on Tuesday 31 March 2026 led a delegation comprising, the Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Mutawalle, alongside the chiefs of operations of the defence headquarters and other service branch of the Armed Forces to HRH Shehu of Borno, Alhaji (Dr.) Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi on a condolence visit.


A statement by Col. Timothy Antigha,Media Adviser to the Minister said the visit was to commiserate with the government and people of Borno State over the unfortunate suicide bomb attacks which claimed the lives of innocent people recently.

The Minister conveyed the heartfelt condolences of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the government and people of Borno State.

According to him, Musa also expressed the assurances of the federal government in addressing the security challenges in the state and environs.

General Musa also paid a condolence visit to the Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Zulum, who was represented by the state deputy governor, Dr Umar Kadafur.

The minister also conveyed the condolences and goodwill of the President and assured the government of the injection of additional military assets to bolster the posture of Operation HADIN KAI in the north east in order to ensure the timely eradication of insecurity and the attainment of operational objectives.

The Governor in his response,paid tribute to the sacrifices of men and women of the Armed Forces of Nigeria who paid the supreme price in service to the nation, and pledged the continued support of the government and people of the state.

He said the Minister as part of the itinerary, led his delegation to visit the military cemetery at Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, where he laid wreaths in honour of fallen heroes.
