Alleged Drug Trafficking: Court Remand Man, 22, Pending Facts, Sentencing Review

The  Federal High Court, Ibadan, has ordered the remand of one Ayodele Olajide, 22, following his guilty plea to alleged trafficking of 206kg of Cannabis Sativa.

Olajide was arraigned on three-counts of unlawful dealing and possession of narcotics by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Oyo State Command.

Justice Uche Agomoh  ordered the remand in the Correctional Centre and therafter adjourned the suit until April 14 for review of facts and judgment.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Mrs R.O. Ige told the court that the defendant committed the crime on Jan. 19, at Odo-Ola in Ibarapa Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Ige further said that the NDLEA operatives received intelligence reports from informants that Olajide was into the illicit business of drug trafficking.

According to the prosecutor, the operatives swung into action and arrested Olajide in possession of huge quantity of Cannabis Sativa weighing 206kg.

Ige said that the offences contravened the provisions of Section 11(C ) of the NDLEA Act Cap. N30 Law of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
