Taraba PDP Elders Warn Falack Faction: “No Place for Fake Mandates

By Nahum Sule, Jalingo

In a decisive statement, the Elders Forum of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State has firmly rejected the faction led by Victor Falack, asserting that its activities threaten the unity of the party. The Forum has called for Falack and his faction to refrain from interfering in the PDP’s operations.

At a press briefing in Jalingo, Chairman John Mamman accused Falack of sowing discord within the party, which has remained united since its inception in Taraba in 1999. “The PDP has thrived on solidarity; we will not allow anyone to disrupt this harmony,” Mamman asserted.

Mamman described the factional claims as a blatant disrespect to both the PDP family and the people of Taraba State. He insisted that no individual could claim a “fake mandate” to seize control of the party. Emphasising the legitimacy of the current leadership, he stated, “Our leadership was duly elected by the members, and any group lacking grassroots support will not be recognised.”

In light of these tensions, Mamman called upon security agencies to remain vigilant against any actions that could destabilise the peace of Taraba State, highlighting the importance of maintaining order in the political landscape.

Despite recent defections from the party, Mamman reassured members that the PDP remains a dominant political force in the region. “Our structure is solid, and we are confident in our ability to lead,” he remarked, dismissing concerns over potential fragmentation.

He urged loyalists to rally behind the state leadership under Obidah Bitrus, reinforcing confidence in the party’s direction. This call for unity reflects the Elders Forum’s commitment to ensuring the PDP remains cohesive and focused on its objectives.

The Elders Forum’s firm stance against the Falack faction underscores the challenges faced by political parties in Nigeria, where factionalism can lead to instability and disillusionment among supporters. As the PDP strives to maintain its integrity and cohesion, the message is clear: divisive tactics will not be tolerated.

In conclusion, the Elders Forum of the PDP in Taraba State has set a strong precedent against factionalism, affirming that unity is essential for the party’s success. As the political landscape continues to evolve, the PDP is determined to uphold the values that have sustained it for decades, ensuring that the voice of its members remains strong and unified.
