Rivers Governor Pledges Support For NYSC Members At Orientation Camp Closing

Governor Siminalayi Fubara has reaffirmed the Rivers State Government’s commitment to the welfare and security of National Youth Service Corps members serving in the state.

The governor gave the assurance at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch A Stream I orientation programme for corps members posted to Rivers State, held at the NYSC camp in Nonwa-Gbam Tai Local Government Area.

Represented by Mr Samson Dede, Permanent Secretary, Special Services Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Governor Fubara urged the corps members to serve their host communities with integrity and a strong sense of responsibility.

He assured them that renovation work at the orientation camp was ongoing and would be completed swiftly, adding that Rivers State remained welcoming and supportive of corps members.

The State NYSC Coordinator, Mr Moses Oleghe, advised the corps members to become symbols of hope and national unity by rising above tribalism, ethnic bigotry and corruption.

He encouraged them to use their service year to make a positive impact on the lives of others, particularly within their host communities, and called on employers to provide a safe and enabling environment for corps members at their places of primary assignment.

Mr Oleghe also praised Governor Fubara for his unwavering commitment to the success of the NYSC scheme in Rivers State.
