Kano NNPP Threatens Legal Action Over Vehicles Kept By Defected Officials

The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State has issued a directive demanding the immediate return of official vehicles held by some former party chairmen who have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party said the vehicles, donated by Senator Rufai Hanga, were provided to facilitate NNPP activities at the local government level and were not intended for personal use.

According to a statement by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Engr. Ibrahim Karaye, the NNPP was disturbed by reports that defected officials were still in possession of party-owned vehicles despite their exit from the party.

He described the action as a serious violation of trust, emphasising that the vehicles belonged to the NNPP and were meant solely for party assignments.

“These vehicles were donated to the NNPP as working tools to support party operations, not as personal property for any official,” Mr Karaye said.

He warned that the party would take legal steps against any former chairman who failed to comply with the directive to return the vehicles.

Mr Karaye said the NNPP leadership had resolved to retrieve all its assets from defected officials in order to safeguard party property and ensure effective use for its programmes.

He added that any continued refusal to return the vehicles would be treated as deliberate sabotage and unlawful possession, while urging party members and supporters to remain calm as the party pursues lawful means to recover its assets and consolidate its presence across Kano State.
