The immediate past governor of Benue, Chief Samuel Ortom, has reaffirmed his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and denies any purported defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ortom, in a statement by his Media Adviser/Consultant, Dr Terver Akase, said that he remains a key member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the leader of the party in Benue.
The immediate past governor described reports of his purported defection as a mischievous fabrication of desperate social media urchins.
He stated that those spreading such lies could only wish, as there was no iota of truth in their reports.
“The attention of the immediate past governor of Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom, has been drawn to a fake and deliberately misleading report circulating on social media claiming that he has defected to the APC.
“The report is false, baseless, and a mischievous fabrication by a gang of desperate social media urchins sponsored by political opponents who are clearly unsettled by Chief Ortom’s continued relevance and influence.
“As part of their infantile scheme, the agent provocateurs and fake news merchants went as far as manufacturing a fake APC membership card, falsely attributing it to Chief Ortom.
“They are circulating the same online in a failed attempt to deceive the public. This act is not only irresponsible but also exposes the depth of desperation among those behind it.
“Chief Samuel Ortom remains a proud, committed, and influential member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He is the leader of the party in Benue State and a respected member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT),” he added.
He urged members of the public are hereby urged to disregard and ignore the falsehood in its entirety.
