Fiji will host the 2026 Commonwealth Law Ministers Meeting from 9–12 February at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort in Nadi. The theme is “Anchoring Justice in a Changing Tide: Strengthening the Rule of Law for a Resilient Future.”
Around 150 delegates, including attorneys general, justice ministers, and solicitors general from 56 Commonwealth countries, are expected to attend. Over three days, participants will discuss strengthening legal safeguards, improving access to justice, and supporting stable societies, fair economies, and environmental protection.
The meeting will feature five side events engaging youth leaders, justice system stakeholders, and disability rights advocates to ensure their perspectives inform ministerial discussions. Outcomes are expected to influence the agenda of the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Antigua and Barbuda.
The event will be chaired by Siromi Turaga, Fiji’s Minister for Justice and acting Attorney General. The Commonwealth Secretary-General, Shirley Botchwey, expressed gratitude to Fiji for hosting, emphasising that the rule of law is essential for peace, stability, and development.
