The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that the 2027 general elections will be determined by governance performance and leadership, rather than political rhetoric.
The party was responding to comments by ADC National Secretary and former Osun Governor Rauf Aregbesola, who said defections to the APC might not guarantee electoral success and that Nigerians, not governments, decide elections.
APC Lagos spokesman Seye Oladejo said President Bola Tinubu won the 2023 election through national coalition-building and constitutional spread, noting that Lagos alone does not reflect national electoral realities. He described opposition results in Lagos as temporary and politically insignificant and said defections reflect leadership, performance, and vision, not coercion.
Oladejo urged political actors to focus on verifiable achievements, governance, and reforms ahead of 2027.
