Police Recruitment Deadline Extended As Applications Exceed 400,000

The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have extended the deadline for applications into the Nigeria Police Force by two weeks, following an uneven response across states.

The extension applies to the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables nationwide.

In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs of the PSC, Mr Torty Kalu, said the application portal, which opened on 15 December, will now close on 8 February, instead of the earlier deadline of 26 January.

Mr Kalu explained that the decision was taken after more than 400,000 applications were received and a review revealed significant disparities in participation among states.

“While states such as Adamawa, Benue and Kaduna recorded high numbers of applications, others including Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi and Anambra have comparatively low submissions,” he said.

According to him, the extension is intended to promote equitable representation across the country.

He encouraged all eligible Nigerians, particularly those from states with lower application figures, to apply through the official recruitment portal at www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng
.

Mr Kalu also urged state governments, local government councils, community leaders and other stakeholders to mobilise and sensitise eligible citizens to take advantage of the extended application period.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the PSC and the Nigeria Police Force to ensuring a fair and transparent recruitment process.
