The All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched early mobilisation efforts in the North-West ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging political appointees and youths to rally behind President Bola Tinubu.
The mobilisation drive was announced at a stakeholders’ meeting organised by the Minister of State for Works, Alhaji Bello Goronyo, under the banner Renewed Hope: Promise Kept 2027.
APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, told party members that political appointments were inseparable from party loyalty, declaring that governance was inherently political.
“There is no vote called technocrats,” he said. “If you take a political appointment, you must support the party that brought you to power.”
Yilwatda said the North-West remained critical to APC’s electoral fortunes, noting that the zone delivered the highest number of votes for the party in 2023 and would be decisive again in 2027.
He praised President Tinubu’s administration for delivering on youth-focused initiatives, including student loans, social protection schemes and reforms in health and education.
Special Adviser to the President, Hadiza Bala-Usman, echoed the call, describing the North-West as the party’s “vote basket” and urging unity and sustained mobilisation.
“Once you are a political appointee, you must show your face, support the party and engage at the grassroots,” she said.
Speaking earlier, Bello Goronyo said the meeting was aimed at appreciating party foot soldiers from the 2023 elections while reminding them of the work ahead.
He highlighted major infrastructure projects such as the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway, the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road and progress on the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Road as evidence of President Tinubu’s commitment to national development.
Other speakers, including the Ministers of Youth Development, Humanitarian Affairs and Regional Development, stressed the importance of youth participation in politics, particularly in the North-West where young people make up over 60 per cent of the population.
They called on party leaders and appointees to intensify voter registration, fund youth-led initiatives and aggressively mobilise support for the APC ahead of 2027.
