AAU Student Dies In Post-Examination Motorcade Accident In Edo

A final-year student of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo, has died in a motorcade accident while celebrating the completion of his final examinations. The incident occurred on Monday when the student, part of a convoy of fresh graduates, attempted to overtake a moving truck and collided with a stationary vehicle along the highway.

Witnesses said the group drove recklessly, ignoring basic safety rules during their celebrations.

Confirming the incident, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Edo Command, Cyril Mathew, stated that one person died while five others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Mathew urged students to prioritise safety, avoid dangerous post-examination road celebrations, and advised them to “celebrate within campus areas,” reminding them that “there is life after graduation.”
