Unlike Twitter, Threads does not employ hashtags and lacks a search feature for specific text or phrases. Additionally, Threads permits users to share up to 10 photos in a single post, mirroring Instagram’s limit, rather than Twitter’s cap of four images. The app is now available in Apple and Google Android app stores in over 100 countries, including the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and Japan.

Upon creating an account, users are presented with the option to follow their existing Instagram connections. These connections are likely to receive notifications about their friends joining Threads, potentially encouraging them to follow suit.
However, privacy concerns have arisen, with critics highlighting the app’s ability to collect a vast array of personal information, including health data, financial details, contacts, browsing history, location data, purchases, and “sensitive info” as disclosed in the App Store’s privacy statement.
Due to these concerns, Threads is currently unavailable in the European Union, where strict data privacy regulations are in place. Meta plans to expand the app’s availability to more countries but cites regulatory uncertainty as the reason behind its decision to delay the European launch.
