Adebayo Adedamola Emerges PDP Governorship Candidate For Osun 2026 Election

Adebayo Adedamola has been declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

Adedamola secured 919 votes out of 957 cast during the party’s primary held on Tuesday in Osogbo. PDP electoral chairman Humphrey Abba said 957 of 990 accredited delegates participated in the exercise, with 20 votes declared void.

Abba noted that one aspirant had withdrawn, leaving Adedamola as the clear winner. Despite stepping down, the name of outgoing Governor Ademola Adeleke still appeared on the ballot.

Representatives from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the PDP national committee supervised the primary. A strong security presence, including personnel from the DSS, police, and NSCDC, ensured safety at the venue.

Governor Adeleke had earlier resigned from the PDP, citing persistent national leadership turmoil, in a letter dated 4 November addressed to the party chairman in Ede North Local Government Area.
