Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming the state into Nigeria’s “skills capital.” He made the declaration on Wednesday while opening the 2025 Agbaja Education Summit organised by the Agbaja Leaders of Thought (ALT) at the Amadeo Event Centre in Enugu.
Highlighting the growing role of knowledge and innovation in global development, Mbah outlined investments in 260 Smart Schools with digital classrooms and laboratories, alongside a reformed curriculum emphasizing coding, robotics, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Skill acceleration centres have also been established to prepare youths for a rapidly evolving economy.
Former Governor Sullivan Chime praised the summit’s focus on education empowerment, while Prof. Chike Anibeze, Chairman of the summit planning committee, described it as a platform to celebrate Agbaja’s identity, strengthen bonds, and chart a visionary path for the future. The event concluded with awards presented to distinguished sons, daughters, and friends of Agbaja.
