Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State on Wednesday signed the state’s N897.8 billion 2026 appropriation bill into law. The budget, presented at the Katsina Government House, is themed “Building Your Future 3.”
Radda commended the State House of Assembly for passing the budget within 21 working days, describing their collaboration as a testament to effective governance.
He noted that the budget allocates 18 per cent to recurrent expenditure and 81 per cent to capital projects, reflecting the legacy of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, a former governor of Katsina. The governor said the lower proportion of recurrent spending aligns with the late president’s developmental vision.
Radda also expressed appreciation to lawmakers for their dedication, including working through holidays and sleepless nights, and emphasised the importance of continued cooperation between the executive and legislative arms of government.
Speaker of the State Assembly, Alhaji Nasir Yahya-Daura, said the budget emerged from a thorough and consultative process, with careful scrutiny to ensure it meets the needs of the people and supports the state’s development plan. He recalled that the budget submitted by the executive remained unchanged in the final approval.
The speaker prayed for divine guidance in the effective execution of the budget and in overcoming security challenges facing the state.
