Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday presented a N4.24 trillion budget proposal for 2026 to the Lagos State House of Assembly, describing it as a transformative plan for inclusive growth.
Tagging it “The Budget of Shared Prosperity,” the governor said it would build on the 2025 Budget of Sustainability and advance the state’s long-term development trajectory. The budget focuses on four pillars: human-centred development, modern infrastructure, a thriving economy, and effective governance under the THEMES Plus Agenda.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted milestones in 2025, including over 250 educational infrastructure projects, expanded healthcare facilities, major roads and bridges, upgraded water transport, and landmark housing schemes. He emphasised integrating infrastructure—roads, rail, waterways, power, and digital networks—into a functional mobility ecosystem.
On the economy, he noted that Lagos secured over N1 trillion in new investments in 2025, signed a major MSME financing agreement with the Bank of Industry, and launched the N500 billion Lagos Uptake Guarantee Fund to strengthen food systems and ease household pressure.
The governor reaffirmed commitment to fiscal discipline, transparency, and security while praising the State House of Assembly for its cooperation. Speaker Mudashiru Obasa commended Sanwo-Olu’s leadership and assured accelerated consideration of the budget proposal.
